Our disconnect from the dark

One of the things that is becoming clearer to me, is the collective aversion to the dark and this really landed on a deeper level at the recent Winter Solstice, so many posts celebrating the return of the light.

And what do we celebrate at the Summer Solistice?

The height of the light; there is no celebration of the darkness returning to the Earth.

We collectively live in a way where we focus the light, we reach for the light, we welcome the light.

And we demonises and fear the dark.

The dark and your relationship to the dark is an integral part of walking the Path of Embodiment + the Path of the Feminine.

Everything is born from the dark, seeds fertilise in the dark, dreams are born in the dark, our deepest wisdom is born through our deepest initiations through the dark.

And yet at the very mention of the dark many contract away from the idea of leaning into + being enveloped by the wisdom that the dark teaches us.

Our disconnect from the dark can also be seen in how we relate to the earth, how many chase the sun around the world running away from the depths the darkness holds for us.

Our collective disconnect from the dark can be seen in how we collective need to be on all the time, forever rushing, forcing and pushing through.

That the idea of slowing down and honouring the pace that the dark asks us to move at brings confrontation and anxiety and resistance to what appears in the stillness.

The collective belief that the dark within each + every one of us is wrong, shameful + should be pushed down and shut down, when truly, the opposite is required.

To embrace the darkness and the sweet wisdom she offers us.

The fertility she offers us.

The dark offers us deep roots that solidify our foundations so that we can rise strong and steadfast like the Mighty Oak.

The dark is the fertile ground you require to come into deeper relationship with what you are here to bring forward in this lifetime.
